The CCA Florida Duke Energy Mariculture Center hosted a Florida Master Naturalist Program class along with volunteers from Old Fenimore Mill Condominiums for a highly impactful, hands-on restoration initiative.
Together, participants harvested 200 mature Spartina alterniflora clumps and 1,282 Spartina patens plugs. The following day, these plants were installed across four restoration sites in hurricane-impacted areas of Cedar Key.
In addition, CCA Florida and Duke Energy donated one cubic yard of recycled oyster shells from our recycling facility, which were utilized during an oyster restoration training workshop. Volunteers subsequently placed the shells into reef prisms and installed them along G Street in Cedar Key.
